A Good and Bad Weekend

First the Bad: My San Diego Chargers were not able to pull off the upset win against the undefeated New England Patriots. The Chargers offense was really banged up, and it showed when we couldn't turn 4 trips into the red zone into touchdowns. Missing Tomlinson really took away a major threat on the ground and in the short range passing territory. My hat's off to New England though. They played well and did their job. There's always next year...

The Good: During the Charger game, I opted to buy into a $3k guaranteed tourney on Absolute Poker. It had just over 800 players so the prize pool was much more than the guarantee. I was very card dead in the early rounds but picked up some momentum in the mid to late rounds when I was able to continuously double up against big stacks and hold up against little stacks. My skill(luck) allowed me to maintain a close to avgerage stack the entire tourney. I made it all the way to the final two tables and when we were down to 12 players, I found myself with a decision. I had about a 38k stack and was in the BB with KQ. The tourney chip leader was OTB and raised enough to force me to call all in if I wanted to play my hand. Now I expected this. He had been playing extremely laggy and showed down some very weak hands. I felt he was just trying to get me to fold, so I made the call confidently. I was happy to see that I had him crushed whith his measely 78 unsuited. Unfortunately for me, he got lucky and hit 2 pair to knock me out in 12th place. I just missed the Final Table once again by just 3 players. Oh well, the payout was somewhat decent as it was 6x the buy-in.

Until next time...
